A plan to remove Dileepa from Saleh's case...

A group of lawyers representing former head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), retired Major General Suresh Saleh, who is in custody, are reportedly ready to officially complain to Attorney General Parinda Ranasinghe against Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris.

This is due to Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris stating in open court that the discussions between Saleh and his lawyers should be held under the supervision of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Although this complaint against Dileepa Peiris has already been made verbally to the Attorney General by President's Counsel Shavendra Fernando, who is representing Suresh Saleh, it is reported that the official written complaint is scheduled to be handed over in the next few days.

Suresh Sallai's lawyers point out that this statement made by the Additional Solicitor General during the trial is a serious violation of the professional rights of both the suspects and the lawyers.

In addition to the Attorney General, Sallai's legal team has decided to file a complaint with the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.

Retired Major General Suresh Sallai is currently in custody under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) in connection with investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
