Sugeeshwara Bandara arrested

Sugeeshwara Bandara, who served as the private secretary of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has been arrested by the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) today (18), police said.

Police say that while serving as Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s personal secretary during his presidency, Sugeeshwara Bandara is accused of receiving two separate government salaries.

In addition to the salary as the President’s personal secretary, Sugeeshwara Bandara also received a second salary as a project director.

Sugeeshwara Bandara is also said to be the leader of an organization called the New People’s Front.
